BarTender is available in five editions that address a wide range of features and user requirements:

  • Basic
    The most frequently used label design features. Includes all text, graphics, bar code, and most serializing capabilities. Useful for keyboard and scanner-supplied label data only. Print Station is the only included Companion Application.
  • Professional
    All of BarTender's most powerful label design features. Data access for network databases (using OLE DB and ODBC), as well as spreadsheets and text files. Includes two of the Companion Applications: Batch Maker and Print Station.
  • Automation
    All of BarTender's most powerful label design features. Numerous software integration tools, such as ActiveX Automation, enterprise messaging and Seagull's Commander utility for cross-platform integration. All the data sourcing of Professional, plus support for SAP IDocs. Includes all of the Companion Applications except for Librarian, but not all of the features. Logging to local databases only. Includes all available RFID design and encoding capabilities.
  • Enterprise Automation
    Includes all of the label design, printing, software integration, and data sourcing features of the Automation edition, plus advanced server functions for centralized printing, security and administration. Includes BarTender Web Print Server to print labels from any browser. Contains our most advanced integration features, including TCP/IP triggers, SAP AII, Oracle XML, XML transforms, and XML scripting. Includes full functionality for all of the Companion Applications, including Librarian and logging to centralized databases. Tracks printer parts inventory and in-printer media usage.

RFID

The Enterprise Automation edition lets you “drag and drop” RFID objects into your label designs the same way you create bar codes and other label objects. The RFID Enterprise edition supports most available tag types, including EPC Class 1, Gen2, ISO 18000-6b, ISO 15693, Tag-It, I-CODE, TagSys, My-d, Picotag, and more. Supported data formats include Wal-Mart, DoD, EPC, and custom formats.

Trial Edition

For the first 30 days, the Trial Edition of BarTender functions just like the full-working product. After that time, BarTender runs in a slightly limited "demo mode" that randomly changes one character in each printed bar code or text field. For example, if you tried to print out a text or bar code field containing "ABCD," it might print out as "ABXD" instead.
Once you purchase the full-working BarTender, it will load and print any label designs created with the Trial Edition.

BarTender will work with any true Windows printer driver. However, if you are using any of the major brands of label printers, you will get much higher performance if you also download and use Drivers by Seagull. (Drivers must be downloaded separately. They are not included in the BarTender downloads below.)
