	Wax Ribbonds are inexpensive and are suitable for applications without increased requirements to the smear resistance. They are used particularly with paper labels.


	Wax/Resin Ribbons have very good density characteristics. Because of their abrasion resistance they are first choice for smooth paper and plastic labels.


	Resin Ribbons are particularly resistant against mechanical load. They are partly suitable for applications at increased temperature, with solvents and for printing on textiles.


	There are two types of Thermal Transfer Printheads on the market: Standard printheads and Near Edge (Corner Edge) printheads. Both types require an adapted ribbon, which is not compatible with the other type. Before buying any ribbons, check the type of type of printhead in your printer. This information can be found in the specification or the manual of the printer.


	Printheads are subject to a constant wear when printing, which leads sooner or later to defective heating elements.
